"Quotations must be identical to the original, using a narrow segment of the source. They must match the source document word for word and must be attributed to the original author.
For direct quotations:
- Quote source exactly and use quotation marks
- Always cite page numbers
- If it is a long quotation, center it as a block quotations without quotation marks
Examples:
- According to Jones (1998), "Students often had difficulty using APA style, especially when it was their first time" (p. 199).
- "Students often had difficulty using APA style" (Jones, 1998, p. 199), which is the reason for this guide."
