Off-campus access to subscription materials is only available to current Montana Tech students, staff, and faculty.

Medical Literature

Scientific and medical literature often conforms to specific types of publications, including review articles, research articles, case reports, and treatment articles. Databases allow you to limit your searches to one of these types of publications.

  • Review articles - These articles present current knowledge about a disease. Articles may focus on the cause, diagnosis, treatment, or other aspects of a disease.
  • Research articles - These articles present original research.
  • Case reports (also called case studies) - These articles describe and discuss the clinical aspects of an individual with a disease. These articles may also present unusual or unexpected cases.
  • Treatment articles - These articles describe various treatments for specific diseases in humans. Articles may cover clinical trials, case-control studies, cohort studies, and case reports.
