This guide provides tips for researching your topic and for finding industry graphics for your assignment in Advanced Business Writing.

Business Source Complete

 

Search Business Source Complete for industry information:

  • Search by keyword for the industry you are researching (for example, semiconductors).
  • When you've pulled up your result list, look to the far left of the screen and scroll down to the "Source Type" dropdown menu. Click on "Show More." Click on the "Industry Profiles" box and click on "Update."

Search Business Source Complete for industry graphics:

  • Initiate a new search
  • On the top of the page, click "More" and select "Images."
  • Search by keyword for the industry you are researching (for example, semiconductors).
  • Use the menu on the left of the page to limit your search by graphic types, such as color, chart, graph, or illustration.

Search NetAdvantage for Industry Reports: 

Use this database to look for industry surveys published by the Center for Financial Research and Analysis (CFRA). These surveys contain many graphics.

  • On the menu at the top of the page, click "Industry Surveys."
  • In the column table, click on the column heading "Headline" to alphabetize the list by topics.
  • Scroll the 308 reports to look for your topic. 
  • When you find your topic, click the pdf icon on the right hand column to view the full-text of the industry report.

For example, search for "Northwestern Energy" to view extensive information about the company, largely presented with graphics.
